Emmeline - September 2023 - 8 year old female from American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehabilitation
Emmeline is a middle-aged female Boston Terrier who was found wandering in Central Texas. Her cloudy eyes and frosty face make her appear older than she probably is. Her vets estimate her to be around 6-8 years old based on her overall body condition and teeth.
American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehabilitation quickly took Emmeline in. She was fully vetted, including removal of several mammary tumors and ongoing treatment for her painful eye conditions. She has dry eye and her eye pressure was very high. She will be on eye medication for the rest of her life. Despite all that, Emmeline is a sweet little girl who has some vision impairment, but it doesn’t slow her down or negatively impact her interactions with other dogs. She’s very alert, spunky, and as sweet as they come.
Emmeline was also adopted last month by a sweet lady in Dallas, TX. Meme’s new momma works from home, so she gets LOTS of attention during the day, plus she gained a BT sister named Sasha who was a puppy mill momma in her previous life. Run Free, Jackie O!
Roman - August 2023 - 13 old male from Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue
Poor senior Roman was found recently in the streets of Detroit, MI and was brought into the care of MWBTR and a fabulous foster home. We rushed him to the vet. He had a big wound on his chest close to his heart that looked like he may have been stabbed. He also has very severe dental disease on top of being close to deaf. We are estimating his age to be 13-14 years old, and he is heartworm positive.
Roman is doing better. The vet removed the necrotic tissue put in drain tubes. His anal glands were impacted, and they found millions of HW EGGS, many mature worms as well. We are doing the slow kill which is doxycycline and heart guard because he may not survive the harsh heartworm treatment. We are getting an x-ray in a few weeks to see how it is working. They also think he may have testicular cancer. Roman is a forever Foster with Midwest BTR.
October Update - Sweet Roman battled with all his might to overcome all of his health issues, but he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in Oct. He knew love and comfort in his final months.

However, when they arrived to pick him up, they noticed his condition, swelling of the neck, tongue hanging out and a large mass under the tongue. They knew he needed medical care, so they took him in with no questions asked. Unfortunately, medical care would be expensive.
MABTR was contacted for help. His first surgery removed a goiter, a neuter and basic care. His second surgery would open up the salivary gland exit under his tongue. MeeHo stayed at the et hospital for 1.5 weeks to ensure that the salivary glands were working properly. His third surgery was to remove the stretched skin under his neck. He recovered very well from all his surgeries.
MeeHo’s tongue no longer hangs out the whole time. He can now swallow and chew on things. He was adopted to a family in Colorado with two other dogs to have fun with.
